Is Social Media Killing Email Marketing?

You will hear a few people suggesting that email marketing is dead. That no one opens emails and with the new Google email category feature in place email marketing is set to decline even further. In this article I am going to discuss why I believe this is not true. Email marketing is still very much alive and I believe that it is becoming more and more important as the tool for building relationships with customers and prospects. Marketing is all about building relationships and the big presence of social media has been perceived as the place to go to build relationships! What better place to be sociable than a social network! However, there are a few very important things to consider and they lead me to believe that email marketing is still the best way to build lasting relationships. There are problems with social media and I shall mention a couple. Distraction Being a social platform the purpose is to create a social buzz and presence and this means that there are so many distractions that can drain your time and marketing effectiveness. If you ignore the distractions and keep to your plan then you will be seen as not interacting and potentially only interested in promoting yourself. If you do get involved and start interacting then you become a slave to the social buzz. It is extremely difficult to do both yourself. If you are attracting global prospects then it is even more difficult to keep a presence on social media 24/7! You really have to outsource it. That then begs the question - who is building the relationship with your prospects? You or someone else? An email campaign is personal. It is you talking to your individual subscriber. No distractions. Who Owns It? The other aspect about social media is that the owner can change the rules at any time. They can ban you or delete your account at will. Since it is a free platform to use it is therefore designed for the purpose of the owner. Email marketing is different. You pay for an autoresponder account and as a customer you command a service for your purposes. Is Email Marketing Dead? Is your email campaign worth something to your subscriber? If you are using your email campaigns for promotion only then you will find that people unsubscribe or they don't bother to open your emails. So you assume it doesn't work any more. In fact email marketing is still extremely effective if you use it for building relationships and providing value to subscribers. If you provide personal help and interact with your subscribers then you will discover that email marketing provides a much more effective means of communication for both you and your prospects. How To Write Copy That Convinces

I found a great quote today by Robert B. Fleming, he said: There must be some reason why a man must be convinced, while a woman must be persuaded. So what's the difference? Well, I'll let you decide. Today I want to show you something you'll love. If you eliminated all the motives I gave you in an earlier article. You'll be left with a short list of ten or so. Today what I want you to do is ask yourself this question for every motive left on your list. "If this motive were fully experienced by my prospect, would it lead them to buy my product?" As an example, let's say you sell upmarket clothes to women who earn £30k a year or more and these are the motives left on your list. Be In Fashion - Be In style - Be Liked - Be Loved - Be More Beautiful - Be Popular Be Praised and Admired - Be Proud of Possessions - Be Sociable - Be Successful -Be up to Date Enjoy Exotic Tastes - Enjoy Health - Express a Personality - Express Creativity Feel Important - Gain Confidence - Gain Pleasure - Gain Self-Respect - Gain Social Acceptance You look at each motive and ask the question: "If this driver were fully experienced by my prospect, would it lead them to buy my product?" For Example: To be in fashion. Would that be a yes answer? Probably. If so you keep it in the list. Do that with the remaining motives and you may end up with a list like this... Be In Fashion Be In style Be Liked Be Loved Be More Beautiful Be Praised and Admired Enjoy Exotic Tastes Express a Personality Feel Important Gain Confidence Gain Pleasure Gain Social Acceptance Now you have this list, what next? Rank them on a scale of one to five. One is the lowest, five the highest. Then put them in the order of importance based on that scale. When you've done that you'll know what to focus on first in your copy, and in what order these motives appear. So, you may ask, what is copywriting? It is the gentle art of weaving these motives throughout your copy. Can you see how easy this is? Plus how effective it will be once you write like this? Give it a go and I think you'll be amazed at your responses. Also you can use other ways of boosting responses that are easy and fun. You can explore these and more... How Blog And Email Marketing Differ

A lot of people want to lump blog marketing and email marketing together. Even though they have some similarities, they are different. The way you market your product or service is different depending on whether you are using your blog or sending an email to your list. Some people use both forms of marketing while others only use one. When you use your blog to promote a service or product it is called blog marketing. You use your blog to get the word out about a product that you are recommending. You need to attract traffic to your blog so people can see the product you are selling. There are many ways to drive traffic to your blog. You can exchange links with other relevant blogs. You can also leave comments on relevant blogs with a link back to your blog with the hope that people will come visit your blog. You can also use paid advertising. You need to ensure that you are constantly providing new content on your blog so you will continue to attract repeat visitors. When you send an email to your list describing a product or service then you are doing email marketing. You can get people on your list by offering a free give-away in exchange for their email address. Typically, you will put links to your products and affiliate links in your email. In order to retain the people on your list, you need to provide great content to your list as well. You can provide free resources, free books, relevant news or free tools to your list to keep them engaged. Even though blog marketing and email marketing are similar, there are many differences. When you are doing blog marketing, you include what you are selling in your blog post. For email marketing, you send an email to your list. People are part of your list because they have opted in based on some give-away that they received in exchange for their email address. With blog marketing, the people have to come to you to see the offer. With email marketing, you send the offer to your prospects. Whether you want to employ blog marketing or email marketing, you can achieve the goals you have set. There is work associated with both methods and this is not a "get rich quick" scheme. Online marketing takes persistence and consistency. If you continue to offer value to your customer, more visitors will visit your blog and more people will join your list. 2 Tips To Refer To When Creating Your Email Marketing Newsletter

Do you currently have an email newsletter that isn't producing any income for you? Well, don't be sad. This is the reality for a lot of online business owners these days. But this is only a symptom... it doesn't have to be a long time problem for you. With just a few simple changes, you can turn your email newsletter into a profitable money source for your online business.
I would know. I own a very profitable email newsletter, and I keep my subscribers up-to-date with the latest tips and techniques when it comes to internet marketing. This is something that you will definitely want to do. You want to be the "central informant" for your subscribers and keep them abreast on things that are changing or happening in your niche.
By staying on top of the marketplace like this, your subscribers will gladly open up and read your emails on a regular basis. And combine this will excellent content... you could end up with a "popping" email newsletter that brings in sales for you on a daily basis. And in today's lesson, I want to give you some tips on how you can make this happen. Here's the first tip you can use to earn more money with your email newsletter:
1) Contact them often
You will want to contact your subscribers on a regular basis. I don't mean email them everyday. This is something that you definitely DO NOT want to do. This is the fastest way to be perceived as a pest, and as someone who is spamming their inbox with blatant promotional material.
Sometimes I subscribe to email newsletters from people who know nothing about internet marketing. I do it just to see if they're doing things correctly, and I often contact the email newsletter owner and give them tips. If you saw some of the things they are doing to try and get sales, you would be dumbfounded.
For example, along with emailing me everyday, the entire content of their emails (ALL of them) consists of no more than 20 words. You may open up their email, and you will see a message that says something like: "Randall, here's my secret to making $2920.82 everyday in my online business." And then they just link to the sales letter page for the product that they're promoting.
Email list owners who market like this get ignored with great intensity. And they also get unsubscribed to also. Here's another thing I want to share with you:
2) Get people to open up your emails
You need a good email subject line in every email that you send out. This takes a bit of copywriting skills, but not much. It's similar to creating a small classified ad - but easier. You only have to write approximately a 30-character email subject line, and that's it. The better your email subject lines, the higher the chances are at people opening up your emails, and taking the action you want them to take.
Take these 2 tips and use them to earn money with your email newsletter today.
Good luck with making money with email marketing in your online business.
