Preparing Your Amazon Kindle E-Book for Publishing

Everyone has become interested in selling eBooks on Amazon Kindle. The large majority of people understand that having your book published on Kindle is very important and they are very interested in the subject, but do not have a lot of information about it. Many consider that becoming a publisher is hard mainly because of the advanced technology. However, once you pass the bumpy beginning, things can turn out to be quite fun.
Write your book
To do this you can use whatever program you feel like (Microsoft Word, Open Office etc.). It is important to remember that writing your book has to include simple formatting options like italics or bold. For more complex features, such as bullet points, your system might not be compatible. Don't be afraid to add images, but be sure you own copyright on them. Keep them in jpg format and center them in the page. Wrapping your text around the chosen images is not advisable because, even if it will look great on the screen of your computer, on the kindle it will differ.
Next step
After this stage, start creating the pages that contain headline titles and acknowledgements. Also, inserting a page break can be done anywhere and this will appear in the final version of the Kindle book.
There are some technical issues that have to be remembered and solved when starting this process. Those of you that have good skills when it comes to word processing can relax, but it doesn't mean that others should freak out. They can hire experts to take care of their problems. Believe me, it will definitely save you time, energy and lots of money. I am not an expert either so I prefer to choose people that really know their way around this domain. This method costs less and it offers readers the chance to read a great written book. When everything is finished, remember to convert the file into a compatible Kindle format like PRC, MOBI or AZW.
Cover image
A cover image can really improve the look of a publication. We live in a world where first impressions do count. Most readers check books by title or image, but there are many other books available on Amazon, so don't overlook this aspect.
Royalty option
Royalties can set to 35% or 70%, but there are many aspects involved here. You need to understand that the 70% royalty applied by Amazon is a technique used in order to assure that the digital publication has a more convenient price than a book that comes in physical form. You need to find a balance between too high or too low in terms of pricing.

Write An eBook: 9 Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before You Begin

One of the worst parts of my job is taking calls from authors who are nearly in tears.
They all sound similar. They have spent an inappropriate proportion of their income on writing, publishing, and marketing their eBooks, and they don't have any revenue to validate the spending.
"What do I do now?" I frequently hear.
I wish every single author on this planet that wants to publish an eBook would talk to me before beginning. I'd have a few questions for them. You should ask yourself these questions, to avoid an entrepreneurial seizure combined with writers inspiration.
Writing an eBook is hard work. Well, if you haven't been exposed to the efficient systems. Marketing an eBook is a tough job itself. This is where most writers get lost. They love the technical part of self-publishing, the writing, but they seize up on their managerial and entrepreneurial duties.
If you cannot provide an answer to the following questions, you should NOT be writing an eBook because there is a high probability that you will not be able to sell the book.
The following are the questions I ask myself before beginning a new piece of work:
1. What is the purpose of this eBook? Give a one sentence answer to this question. DO NOT make the purpose of the book anything about you, make the emphasis on the reader. The purpose of the ebook is not to provide you with additional income, the purpose of the ebook is to inform the reader on XYZ.
2. Who is the target market for this eBook? This is so important, as every good copywriter knows. If you don't know your target audience, their demographics, education level, etc, why are you even bothering to self-publish this amazon kindle eBook? Defining your target market in the beginning aids you in writing clearly, as well as being persuasive. You are more persuasive because you are able to write directly "to them," instead of a broad general audience.
3. Why should people spend time and money on this eBook? Provide a short answer. A lot of people will be asking you this question, and you need to be able to blurt it out quick, while you still have their attention.
4. Is your price set correctly?
Can the people in your target market, afford to purchase this eBook? They may not be able to. Do not choose a target market that has no money to spend.
5. Other than Amazon, where can you sell your book?
For this, you again, need to research your target market. What media does your target audience interact with on a regular basis? What professional associations are they a member of? Do they subscribe to any newsletters? Is their a hobby they all participate in?
6. What areas do you have expertise in, that are directly related to the topic of your eBook?
Expertise is what builds up your credibility. This is crucial when it comes to marketing your eBook.
7. If you are not an expert, how do you become an expert?
Join a couple trade organizations related to your topic. Speak on the topic at a local university.
8. What additional products or services can you bundle with the eBook?
If your not in it for the money, you can skip this. But really, you should generate revenue, at least to fund your self-publishing career. Now, if you would like to maximize your revenue, you will want to bundle your eBook with other forms of media. You could combine the eBook with some video, audio, or software, or all three, to add-value and warrant a higher price.
9. How much do you know about marketing an eBook?
If you are unsure, start learning IMMEDIATELY. Sign up for the eBook Creator Masters Program and become a pro at utilizing the promotional techniques outlined in the course.
Do not wait until your eBook is finished to begin promoting it. You will need to consider many things before you publish, but these questions are a great place to start.

Sell More Ebooks to Foreign Buyers

It's a global company selling books to worldwide readers. If you're an author, you probably do it for the USA branch and maybe the UK's but not at other foreign sellers. Oversight? Could be a missed opportunity; an Amazon Author Central profile helps sell books anywhere. English is the most common 2nd language in the world, and that profile page is the platform to link readers to your books, bio, photos, video, tweets and more. Don't believe it helps? My books sell better in France and Germany, which have author profiles enabled, than they do in Spain and Italy, which do not (yet). Perhaps there's another reason, peut-être pas.
Besides the potential for a direct sale, it can assist with social media connections, website visits, Twitter followers and more from citizens around the world. Since networking is vital to an author's platform, this is untapped potential on a global scale. Imagine your books taking off someday soon in India for example. What a nice thought.
The list of Amazon countries/regions currently available is:
USA
UK
Germany
France
Japan (I couldn't log in there, maybe you can)
To find the right page change the USA branch's suffix to the country where you want to add a profile. Take this link, "https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/landing?", and change the dot com to .co.uk, .de, .fr, and .co.jp.
What about Italy, Spain, India, Canada, Brazil and China? Those presently do not exist but should soon. India could be huge - over 125 million Indians speak English and a fair percentage must read it. Even Amazon China should be on the radar for author central profiles.
Does it really matter in countries where people speak other languages? Because English is the most common non-native language in the world gaining more readers every year - you will sell more ebooks with an author profile filled out. Yes, it matters.
All of the locations allow links to your books and biography to the author page. For the USA profile, you can add photos, videos, Twitter updates, Blog feed and Events.
The UK, Germany and France profiles do not support Blog feed but do support photos, videos, Twitter updates and Events.
I asked Amazon when more foreign countries will enable Author Centrals (Italy, Spain, India, Canada, Brazil, China). Their response was, "Although many of our international sites have Author Pages, we look forward to adding more in the future." Vague? Sure, but bet on it happening sooner rather than later.
Your thoughts? Have you sold books in foreign countries? If Amazon is a global monopoly, does that cause concern or appreciation for methods to enable more sales? Let us know in the comments section.

A Little Known Way of Getting Cheap Content Writers!

There are millions of people on the face of this earth who have an inadequate control over the language of power, English. They fall tongue-tied when it comes to fashioning their message into a presentable format. It's not that they are not creative enough but maybe they are unable to fully realize their verbal potential. But that doesn't mean that this infirmity would cause a cessation of their work or a drop in the quality of their work.

To help them out, the Third World countries or more mildly put the developing nations have thrown a new crop of professionals, people who flourish in the art of content writing. Several people have a misconception or let's say conflict regarding the job description of content developer and content writer.

A content writer strictly researches the content of the article and then arranges it into a more reader-friendly format. It is necessary to get the message across to the reader. A content writer has to consciously avoid the usage of jargon or else he will baffle the reader out of recognition. It is recommended that he mostly uses direct speech and has the capability to lend a fresh outlook to otherwise mundane topics.

When hunting for content writers, always have some expectations from your employee. He or she must be above average; you should sample his proficiency over the English language by reading some of the work he has done in the past.

Read the materials that he has put up in his profile. Find out whether he is a niche writer or not, or if he has the capability of handling a diverse range of topics, etc. If you are employing him as a ghost writer for your marketing brochures or your autobiography it is wise to know about his flexibility with such matters - whether he would demand credits for such work or be satisfied with just a fat pay check.

Always determine your budget before you take almost any significant step in life (even love, it seems, is a major financial proposition!). Don't start hunting for content writers without having a fixed budget in mind. Once you find the writers of your choice, discuss the most viable payment options; some content writers would demand a down payment on submission of each piece of writing, while some others take an advance and ask for the rest of it on completion of the work.

Still others may be comfortable with the thought of getting money on a monthly basis. Not all content writers have a bank account and even if they do, some banks don't have e-transaction facilities. Under such circumstances, you would have to send their monthly paychecks through a courier service. In retrospect, the courier fees should be included in your budget while looking for budding content writers.

Word of mouth advertisement is possibly the best way to spread the word about your search for content writers. Soon the resumes would pour in and you would have to pick and choose as to which content writer appeals to you the most. Always prefer seeing the samples of their original work before you trust their talent.

There are some really good as well as some unskilled writers available out there. Like a skilled jeweler you would have to select the diamond from the pile of rubbish.

Most content writing jobs come with a deadline. So, discuss the deadline issue with the writer before offering him the job.

There are some really professional content writers hogging the limelight. Unfortunately, most them have work lined up on their schedule and very few are indulgent enough to rush projects. Those who do rush projects ask for additional payments, issues which need to be cleared up before the job is offered.

Some writers are uncomfortable with a twenty-four hour deadline; they prefer a weekly sojourn into the heart of the matter before giving shape to the article.
